PRIME MINISTER HUN SEN OPENS 40TH ASEAN TOURISM FORUM (ATF) HELD IN
SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA

th January 2022, Cambodia – Themed “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future”, ASEAN
Tourism Forum (ATF) 2022 officially opens today at the ceremony graced by Samdech Akka Moha
Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Dr. THONG Khon,
Minister of Tourism, Royal Government of Cambodia.
This edition marks the 40th anniversary of the pivotal travel trade platform for ASEAN and underscores
Cambodia’s commitment as a key stakeholder in the region’s tourism eco-system.
Held at Sokha Beach Resort in Sihanoukville, the ATF will be attended by 350 participants from more
than 27 countries and regions. These include tourism leaders and officials, international buyers,
exhibitors, media as well as trade visitors and passionate travellers from the tourism industry.
Official ASEAN NTOs Meetings, Tourism Ministerial Meetings, and Association Meetings where leaders
discuss programmes and their implementation to foster the ASEAN Tourism Recovery for a more
resilient future are well underway, having kicked off on 16th January 2022 and will continue till 22
nd
January 2022.
At the heart of ATF is TRAVEX, the annual ASEAN leisure travel trade fair showcasing the latest
Southeast Asia travel experiences, held from 19th – 20th January 2022. Organised by a joint
collaboration between MP Singapore and Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, TRAVEX
is features hoteliers, tour operators and travel agencies, national tourism boards, airline professionals,
restaurateurs, attraction and theme park owners. High-quality meetings between buyers and sellers
both on-site and virtually, aimed at making the right connections toward the resilient and recovery of
tourism sector in the region.
As one of the first in-person tourism events in Asia, the Organisers are committed to run ATF 2022 in a
safe physical format. Stringent safeguards are in place. All attendees are required to take an antigen
rapid test prior to entry, wear their masks at all times, and observe safe distancing. All frequent venue
touch points and exhibition halls are also regularly sanitised and disinfected. As of 17th January 2022,
Cambodia’s vaccination campaign has achieved 89.46% of the total 16 million population nationwide
which is a safety of herd community.
Some 50 members of the media will also be attending the event. ATF 2022 is also supported by the

ATF 2022 will close on 20
th January with a ceremony for handing over of the ATF flag to next year’s
host, Indonesia.

Cambodia headed by the Minister of Tourism, H.E. Dr. THONG Khon, organised under the leadership

Federation, which harmonises various private sector industry stakeholders to coordinate and jointly
enhance the quality of tourism in the country.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a cooperative regional effort to promote the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one tourist destination. This annual event involves all the tourism
