Indiatourism Delhi organised a Tourism Stakeholders Conference at The Grand Dragon Hotel, Leh, Ladakh, on August 6, 2024. This event marked a significant step towards fostering a stronger and better sustainable tourism industry in the region. A good number of tourism stakeholders participated, with more than 140 attendees at the conference.

Sh. Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), Ladakh Administration, who was the chief guest, highlighted the administration’s comprehensive efforts to develop Ladakh as a premier tourist destination with a sustainable approach. Dr. R.K. Suman, Regional Director (North), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, presented the latest schemes and guidelines aimed at supporting and growing the sector, with a special focus on the recognition process for tourism service providers through NIDHI+ portal of the Ministry.

Representatives from key tourism associations addressed the gathering, including Sh. Sanjay Razdan, Honorary Secretary of IATO; Sh. PT Kunzang, President of the Ladakh Travel Trade Alliance; Sh. Tsering Namgyal, Chairman of IATO Ladakh Chapter; Sh. Mohd Hamza, Representative from ATOAI, Kargil; Sh. Vinayak Koul, Senior Executive Committee Member and Former Honorary Secretary of ATOAI; Sh. Rajat Sawhney, Senior Vice President of ADTOI; Sh. Delex, President of the All Ladakh Hotel & Guest House Association (ALHGHA); and Sh. Dorjey, President of the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA).

The conference offered a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to engage with the Ministry, understand the latest regulations, and discuss challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector in Ladakh. The event culminated with a dedicated Q&A session, allowing for open discussions and addressing specific concerns.
The Vote of Thanks was presented by Mr. Sanjay Sachan from the Ministry of Tourism, who expressed gratitude to all the participants for their valuable contributions and active participation.

This initiative underlined the Ministry of Tourism’s commitment to developing a robust and thriving tourism industry in Ladakh. By fostering collaboration and empowering local stakeholders, the conference contributed to the sustainable growth and development of the tourism potential in the region.
