Hands- On Workshop at Vibrant Villages Durbuk – Tangtse of District Leh (LADAKH) Date: June, 9th 2025.

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with Ladakh Union Territory (UT) Administration, Tourism Department, Defense, ITBP, Tourism Stakeholders, Local Administration etc organized hands- on workshop at Vibrant Villages Durbuk and Tangtse of District Leh (LADAKH) on 9th June, 2025.

2. The Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) envisages creation of opportunities for livelihood generation through promotion of tourism & cultural heritage, skill development & entrepreneurship, awareness drive, promotion of tourism activities, etc. in the focused areas of interventions.

3. The Hands-on workshop for Local stakeholder of Durbuk and Tangtse villages covered following three major activities:

a) Detail insight to the local stakeholders for how to register and how apply for approval of Home-Stays and Bed and Breakfast entities under the Ministry of Tourism scheme of “Incredible India Bed & Breakfast/Homestay Establishments”.
b) Awareness on “Incredible India Tourist Facilitators Certification Programme (IITFC)/ Incredible India Tourist Guide (IITG)” programme – A Digital Initiative of Ministry of Tourism wherein one can learn online about tourism at its own time, space, path and pace. After successful completion of this programme one would become a Certified Tourist Facilitator of Ministry of Tourism. The programme would open income alternative to the locals.
c) Awareness and formation of “YUVA Tourism Club” with the strategic objective of creating interest, awareness and a sense of responsibility towards country’s natural and cultural heritage / tourism amongst youth and encouraging adoption of responsible tourism practices and concern for sustainable tourism.
4. The hands – on workshop at Durmukh and Tangtse aimed at promoting local culture, creating awareness and joining locals with tourism activities and scheme and programmes of Ministry of Tourism. The workshop was graced by the dignitaries – Shri Tashi Namgyal, Yakzee, Executive Councillor, District Leh, Ladakh, Shri Konchok Stanzin, Councillor, Chushul, Shri Akun Sabharwal, IPS, IG, NW Frontier, ITBP, Leh, Brigadier M.R Jagadish, Station Commander, Tangste, Shri Tsering Namgyal, Chairman, IATO Ladakh Chapter, Ms. Rigzin Wangmo Lachic, President, All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association, Leh, Shri Nawang Namgyal, Nambardar, Durbuk, Shri Tsewang Dorjey, President All Ladakh Tour Operator Association (ALTOA), Ms PadmaAssistant Director Tourism, Leh, UT of Ladakh and Mohd. Hamza, Adventure Tour Operator Association.

5. The gathering of more than 150 locals from the villages of Durbuk, Tangtse, Man, Thrauk, Chushul and Merak, these participants included around 40 B&B/Home stay stakeholders, around 50 youths for IITT/IITTG, 40 Handicraft owners showcasing local items, cuisine woollen items items 23 students from Government middle school Durbuk, 14 students from Higher secondary school, Thrauk, tourism stakeholder & Media from Leh

6. Durbuk and Tangtse also serves as middle point for tourist destinations like Pangong, Nubra and also to upcoming destination – Galwan. For its strategic location a FAM Tour for Media and tourism stakeholders was organized. On the occasion a digital brochure on Durbuk and Tangtse was also unveiled. The young members of the YUVA Tourism Club presented cultural programmes during the workshop and momentos were distributed. FAM tour for tourism stakeholders, media were also organised.

7. The dignitaries informed and gave key notes and offered there contribution for the success of the initiatives.
