The Embassy of Papua New Guinea in India will host a grand reception to mark the 50th Independence Day of Papua New Guinea on 16th September 2025 at the British Pavilion, New Delhi.

This occasion commemorates the day in 1975 when Papua New Guinea gained independence from Australia, emerging as a sovereign nation and the largest island country in the Pacific. Independence Day is celebrated across Papua New Guinea with traditional songs, dances, cultural showcases, and community gatherings that reflect the nation’s rich heritage and unity in diversity.

In New Delhi, the celebrations will bring together ambassadors, diplomats, and distinguished guests from various embassies, symbolizing Papua New Guinea’s growing friendship and engagement with India and the international community.
